It’s not often we get a handwritten letter in the mail these days - and when we do, it stands out. That’s why we want you to send a letter to the CEO of NAB to call on him to rule out funding oil and gas lending for good.
Grab your pen and paper, write an impassioned letter, and post it to the CEO of NAB. Together we can flood his mailbox and demand he stop bankrolling oil and gas projects.
Here’s an example letter, but please do make it your own. Check out Market Forces for more info about NAB’s investment and share your personal stories about why climate change is important to you.
Level 4 Dear Ross McEwan, I am writing to you as a concerned [identity/NAB customer] living in [your town]. I hear you are currently reviewing your oil and gas lending policy? This is a great opportunity for you to play a critical role in addressing climate change by ruling out investing in oil and gas I care about climate change because… The International Energy Agency called it - if we want to hit the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement and Net Zero by 2050 - banks must stop financing fossil fuels, including oil and gas projects. NAB can play a positive role in transitioning to 100% renewable energy, but any good you do with these investments will be wiped out by the emissions of new oil and gas projects. I would love to see NAB commit to ending new oil and gas project investments and phasing out existing oil and gas investments by 2025. Please use your power as CEO to make this important call for our planet, for communities across the world and for future generations. Thank you, [Your Name] |
