The Climate Justice Mobilisation will bring together youth and climate activist allies in a nationwide demonstration for climate justice against the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) on the 22nd of September 2021.
DMRE is blocking the flow of energy into our democracy. They are ignoring the voices of those most impacted by energy planning decisions, leaving many without access to basic electricity and approving polluting projects while our just transition to renewable energy languishes on Minister Mantashe's desk. Climate change and our shared energy future demand action.
Events will take place in all 9 provinces. Partners from a wide variety of youth-led organisations, trade unions and environmental and social justice organisations, across the country will register their own events for the mobilisation, and where possible, will be encouraged to join together. As we continue to finalise the plans, we invite others to get involved in the planning and implementation of the mobilisation.
