Indigenous People of Brazil, Australia, and the Pacific have formed a powerful new alliance at COP29. They’re demanding co-leadership at future UN climate summits to put people, communities and nature at the center of the most important international climate negotiations.
Now, Indigenous leaders of Brazil are urging their government to give them a seat at the table as hosts of COP30, which will be held in the Brazilian Amazon next year.
Indigenous Peoples are stewards and defenders of Earth’s most precious nature, and they’re among those hardest hit by the impacts of the climate crisis. But their voices are often ignored, while fossil fuel and big polluter interests still shape these talks. At COP29, there are far more fossil fuel lobbyists than Indigenous and frontline voices.
By signing this petition, you show your support for Indigenous Peoples and their call for a co-leadership role at COP30.
