Make a submission: Beetaloo grants inquiry

The Senate is running an inquiry into fracking in the Beetaloo Basin in the NT and the Government’s plans to give $50 million to oil and gas companies.

The Government’s plans are outrageous - Aboriginal communities have been fiercely opposing fracking on their land for years. Opening up new oil and gas basins would be a disaster for our climate and threaten precious water supplies.

Tell the committee why you don’t support public money being given to fracking companies in the NT. Try to personalise your statement so we have thousands of unique submissions to add:

Things you could include:

  • Aboriginal communities have said no.
  • Its greenhouse gas emissions would be huge, nearly a quarter of Australia’s emissions.
  • There is no plan for wastewater from the fracking wells, putting communities and water at risk of contamination.
  • Things you would prefer the Government spends money on like healthcare or renewable energy.
