BHP is a major partner of the Scarborough gas project - a gas field off the coast of Western Australia, which BHP and Woodside are proposing to exploit. As well as creating 1.6 billion tonnes of carbon emissions over its lifetime, the project would have devastating effects on cultural heritage and endangered marine species.
All eyes will be on BHP on the day that they announce their results on August 17. Between now and then we will be pressuring them to drop Scarborough gas and we need your help.
Write your personal message to the CEO of BHP, Mike Henry. Share why you think BHP should commit to not opening this brand new, mega polluting, cultural heritage destroying, fossil gas project.
We’ll print your message and add it to the thousands of postcards we will be delivering to BHP’s offices in Melbourne and Perth on the day of the AGM.
