Fast-track webinar and map launch

It’s crunch time for the Fast-track Approvals Bill. You already know this law change is the most extreme attack on the climate, on Te Tiriti and on democracy that we’ve seen in a while. We're running a webinar 7pm next Wednesday (October 16) to launch an interactive map to help communities all around Aotearoa oppose dodgy fast-track projects near them.

The government has revealed the first 149 projects to be rubber-stamped through the bill, and it ain't looking good. The projects include coal mines, waste incinerator projects, motorways, seabed mining, dams, open-cast gold mines, prison expansions, irrigation schemes, urban sprawl and more. Many of these proposals are 'zombie projects' - projects that the courts ruled should not proceed - but now would go ahead anyway. The projects include no less than 11 mines and eight quarries!

This webinar will feature communities across Aotearoa resisting fast-track projects - and how to get involved. From iwi and hapū joining with surfers and fishermen to resist seabed mining, to locals resisting coal mines, to kyackers fighting against irrigation dams, to farmers resisting waste incinerator plants - communities are fighting back against this government's fast-track agenda. During the call, we'll split into breakout rooms, where you can join a session on an issue that is closest to your heart.
