Two weeks ago, our state Government made an outrageous move to fast-track Australia's largest ever coal mine in the Galilee Basin in central Queensland.
Premier Paluszczuk announced her Government was classifying Adani's Carmichael coal mine and rail project "critical infrastructure", which gives the Coordinator-General extraordinary powers to speed up and take control of the approvals still required for this massive mine to proceed.
As global temperatures hit terrifying levels and the Reef turns a deathly white, the absurdity of this decision cannot be understated.
This Sunday the Queensland ALP are hosting their major conference for the year on the Gold Coast. They need to hear from Queenslanders like you that we won't support a party that continues to put the interests of a foreign owned mining company ahead of our Reef and our future.
Join us for an action in partnership with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition to protest the Queensland Government's outrageous move
When: 10.30-11am, Sunday 30th October
Where: Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, 2684-2690 Gold Coast Hwy, Broadbeach. RSVP using the sign up form to the right and we will send you exact location details.
What: Protest outside the Queensland ALP conference against the decision to fast-track Adani's mega-mine.
We know that the mining and burning of coal is destroying the Reef and we know that we must keep fossil fuels in the ground if we want to avoid dangerous global warming.
Yet, our State Government is intent on giving the coal industry everything they need to dig more coal out of the ground and wreck our precious Reef.
Join us this Sunday to tell the Queensland ALP to stop fast-tracking Adani's mega coal mine.
