Port of Vancouver - Reject Kinder Morgan’s Construction Permit

The National Energy Board has given Kinder Morgan the green light to start construction at their marine terminal on Burrard Inlet. But, Kinder Morgan is still missing one key permit. In order to start expanding the tanker terminal that would ship hundreds of thousands of litres of tar sands onto the Pacific – almost guaranteeing an oil spill in the Salish Sea – they need a construction permit from the Port of Vancouver. Add your name now asking the Port of Vancouver to reject the permit for Kinder Morgan. This terminal is the same place we surrounded, by sea and by land, with hundreds of BC residents and Indigenous peoples in 2016. It’s where I paddled a kayak in front of a massive oil tanker a few days later. And, it’s where the Pacific Climate Warriors and members of Indigenous nations from all along the Pacific Coast of the US and Canada gathered to perform a ceremony on the water earlier this year. If Kinder Morgan starts construction, it’s where hundreds – if not thousands – of us will be again, protecting the water, the land and the climate. The Port has a responsibility to protect the waters of the Burrard Inlet for the people who live on and near them. That means rejecting Kinder Morgan’s permit application.
