Ban Fossil Fuel Ads

Big Oil is using Meta’s reach to greenwash their brands and influence public opinion to hinder climate action.

Ahead of COP 28 help us send a strong message to Meta: stop enabling the spread of fossil fuel misinformation and take a stand for our planet's future.

Meta, with its extensive reach through platforms like Facebook and Instagram, significantly shapes public opinion. Big Oil companies, including Exxon Mobil and Chevron, use this influence to their advantage, greenwashing their activities and impeding critical climate action.

Unlike tobacco ads, which are rightly banned due to public health concerns, fossil fuel ads remain unregulated despite their contribution to environmental degradation and health risks.

The ban on tobacco ads on social media platforms shows that Meta can and should take action against advertisements that pose a threat to public health and safety. It's time to apply the same logic to the fossil fuel industry.

Ahead of COP 28 help us send a strong message to Meta: stop enabling the spread of fossil fuel misinformation and take a stand for our planet's future.
