Tell Doug Burgum: You serve the American people, NOT Big Oil

Trump’s Department of the Interior is paying TotalEnergies $1 billion to walk away from two U.S. wind farms. The energy giant will invest its money in a fossil gas plant in Texas instead.

It’s as short-sighted as it is stupid: They’re funneling billions in public funds into Big Oil’s pockets and doubling down on costly, climate-wrecking fossil fuels – and working people will pay the price.

Will you help us remind Interior Secretary Doug Burgum that he serves the American people, NOT fossil fuel billionaires?

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum:

We, the undersigned, condemn your decision to pay TotalEnergies $1 billion to abandon U.S. offshore wind and invest in costly, climate-wrecking fossil fuels instead.

It’s nothing short of an insult to every American household that the government is funneling billions in public funds into the pockets of the oil and gas industry while citizens are being crushed by record-high utility costs.

Wind energy is now consistently cheaper and more stable than gas. Using our hard-earned tax dollars to pay off fossil fuel companies is a betrayal of the public trust and a direct blow to the economic security of millions who can no longer afford the price of corporate greed.

We remind you that you serve the American people, NOT fossil fuel billionaires, and we demand you instead support the clean, affordable energy we deserve.

Sincerely,
