Tell MEPs: Vote NO on the fossil fuel trade deal!

The European Parliament is about to vote on the EU-US trade deal.

I am writing to urge you to reject the EU-US trade deal.

Recent developments have made clear that this deal is closely tied to fossil fuel imports and energy dependency. Reports that the United States threatened to cut off gas supplies unless the EU approves the deal are extremely concerning. This demonstrates exactly why dependence on imported fossil fuels creates political and economic vulnerability for Europe.

This agreement risks committing Europe to massive imports of American fossil fuels while also weakening important environmental, consumer, digital, and corporate accountability standards that we Europeans have spent decades building.

I urge you to reject the deal and push for:

- A democratically legitimised mandate for negotiations with the United States
- No commitments to large-scale imports of fracked gas or other fossil fuels
- Full protection of European climate, environmental, digital, and consumer standards
- Investment in a resilient Europe that controls its own energy, food, and digital systems
- Rapid expansion of renewable energy and energy efficiency
- Transparent and democratic decision-making processes

Europe should not repeat past mistakes of energy dependency. Instead, Europe should invest in renewable energy that is produced at home, provides stable prices, and cannot be controlled by foreign governments.

This vote is an important opportunity to protect Europe’s independence, democracy, and climate future. I urge you to reject this deal unless these conditions are met.
