I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to protect the Tongass National Forest, one of the most ecologically significant and irreplaceable landscapes in the world.

On his first day in office, Donald Trump repealed critical logging protections for the Tongass, opening the door for destructive logging operations that would devastate this vital ecosystem.

I am deeply concerned that Congress is failing to act while this national treasure is threatened. We cannot stand idly by while corporate greed destroys a forest that is essential to our planet’s future.

The Tongass is not just a forest — it is a lifeline. With trees over 1,000 years old, it serves as one of the most important carbon sinks, helping to fight climate change by removing carbon dioxide from our atmosphere. It is also home to a third of the world’s remaining old-growth temperate rainforest and holds deep cultural significance as part of the ancestral homelands of the Tlingit and other Indigenous peoples.

I urge you to take a stand against Donald Trump and oppose any efforts to weaken protections for the Tongass and work to restore and strengthen safeguards that will ensure its preservation for generations to come.
