Dear Federal Party Leaders,

I urge you to tax Big Oil and all of Canada's wealthiest corporations. We can recoup billions of dollars to tackle the climate crisis and build a 100% renewable energy economy worthy of working people. Let’s Tax their Billions to fund a future for All of Us.

BUILD HOMES FOR PEOPLE, NOT PROFIT: Secure housing as a right, not a luxury to be enjoyed by the wealthy few. We demand a Green Homes Guarantee that expands public housing nationwide to ensure safe, zero-carbon, and affordable housing for everyone. With Universal Free Heat Pumps and a National Retrofit program, we can update existing homes to increase energy efficiency and cut household costs.

DELIVER CHEAPER, CLEANER ENERGY: Big Oil has spent years destroying our planet for their profit while lying to the public. Enough. It’s time for a fossil fuel phase-out and massive investments in publicly-owned and community-led renewable energy projects to deliver cheap and reliable electricity that keeps us safe and  connected. By contributing to a Global Justice Fund, we will do our fair share to ensure this transition is global.

INVEST IN SAFE, HEALTHY COMMUNITIES: After decades of public funding cuts, our classrooms are overcrowded and our healthcare systems are collapsing. Families are struggling to make ends meet. We demand robust federal investments in healthcare, education, childcare, social services, and a resourced national public transit plan to build strong and thriving communities.

CREATE GOOD JOBS FOR ALL: Fossil fuel companies are exploiting workers and automating jobs out of the workforce. Shifting to a green economy would create millions of dignified, unionized jobs. A Federal Green Jobs program combined with a Youth Climate Corps, training programs, and permanent resident status for all would ensure that everyone can play a role in building a better, more resilient future.

FOLLOW INDIGENOUS LEADERSHIP: Colonial exploitation lies at the root of the status quo system that prioritizes corporate profit over human life. We must center Indigenous peoples’ knowledge and leadership, ensure free, prior, and informed consent, and restore land to Indigenous stewardship.
