What do Justin Trudeau and Canada’s Premiers have in common? They’re all failing us on climate change. We’ve run out of time for incremental changes. We need a bold, progressive vision for tackling climate change in Canada.
That’s why we’re calling on Canada’s political leaders to support the Good Work Guarantee – a new vision for climate action in Canada. Sign our petition ahead of the December 7th First Ministers meeting with Trudeau and Canada's premiers.
The Good Work Guarantee delivers good jobs for every single person in the country, phases out fossil fuel dependence, and commits Canada to a 100% renewable energy economy that’s in line with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
A few weeks ago, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a landmark climate change report that made it clear – without bold political action in the next 12 years, the window for avoiding catastrophic climate change will close.
To rise to the challenge, we need to stop expanding fossil fuels and make decisive moves to transition to 100% renewable energy in the next two decades. Fail to do this, and we’re on track to warm the planet up to 6ºC in the next half century, bringing widespread drought, wildfires, extreme heat and weather, rising seas, famine and worse.
