Wealthy countries like the United States caused the climate crisis with our emissions. But countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean are paying the steepest price. Droughts, floods, hurricanes, typhoons, and rising waters are forcing people to leave their homes.
As the climate crisis intensifies, more and more people around the world will be impacted, and as many as 200 million people could be forced to flee their homes by climate change and extreme weather by 2050.
But instead of tackling the climate crisis head-on, Donald Trump has declared “drill baby drill,” while fanning the flames of racism, xenophobia, and far-right sentiment. We owe it to migrants everywhere to do better.
We, the climate movement, oppose Trump’s inhumane migrant policies and stand in solidarity with migrants fighting for justice, human rights, and dignity.
