Trudeau, stand up to Big Oil,

The Government of British Columbia just announced a huge blow to Kinder Morgan. The province will introduce regulation that would temporarily prohibit new tar sands shipments on the West Coast while the government assesses the risk these exports pose to land, water and communities. If the risk is too great, BC will move to make this regulation permanent.

This could be the end of the line for Kinder Morgan. But we know that right now the most powerful fossil fuel companies and Big Oil billionaires are calling up Justin Trudeau, demanding that he override this decision. That’s why we need to demonstrate that all across Canada people support today’s monumental announcement. We need to remind the Prime Minister of his own words that, “only communities grant permission” for projects like Kinder Morgan.

Call the office of the Prime Minister to tell him to stand up to the Big Oil billionaires who will try to bully him into supporting a pipeline and tanker project that First Nations, communities and the people of BC don’t want and that the climate simply can’t handle.

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau,

My name is XXXXXX and I’m calling from LOCATION. I want you to know that I support today’s announcement by the BC government to place a new moratorium on tar sands shipments to the West Coast -- like from the Kinder Morgan pipeline. I support it because I believe in climate action, in clean water and in respecting Indigenous rights.

You said yourself that “only communities grant permission” for massive pipelines. Now it’s time for you to live up to your word. We already know that First Nations, municipalities, and people all across BC do not consent to Kinder Morgan. Now, the BC government has made its position clear as well by blocking new tar sands shipments.

I know that right now, you’re hearing from the fossil fuel industry, and I’m calling because I want you know that people and the planet should matter more than big polluters. Respect this decision, respect the science and respect the communities that time and time again have told you, it’s time to stop Kinder Morgan.
