In 2023, the world saw record-breaking high temperatures and climate disasters that had not been seen in the past 120,000 years, prompting UN Secretary-General António Guterres to state, "The era of global boiling has arrived," and climate scientists to warn of further deterioration of global warming should current trends continue.

In Japan, extreme heat of approximately 40°C has led to widespread heatstroke incidents, and disasters such as heavy rain are now occurring more frequently. Facing the reality of climate change, we are deeply concerned, and it is unlikely that we will be able to pass on a safe and livable Japan to the next generations if nothing is done.

However, if we take crucial climate action now through energy conservation and renewable energy, we can pave the way for a sustainable future.

By thoroughly implementing energy conservation and shifting to renewable energy, we would be able to retain the tens of trillions of yen currently spent on procuring overseas fossil fuels, which in turn would allow us to keep our air and nature clean, create more jobs, build a society where people can live happily, and increase our energy self-sufficiency without compromising the stable supply of electricity.

We are, therefore, urgently calling on the government (specifically, the Prime Minister, the Ministers of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Environment) to take crucial climate change measures to propel the country in the direction of energy conservation and expansion of renewable energy—which, according to experts, is not only achievable but also desirable in terms of our lives and employment.。

Politics only change when citizens take action. Women's rights to vote and our freedom in choosing our jobs, to name a few, are instances where people raised their voices and demanded rights.

Together, let's make our voices heard and demand crucial climate action and expansion in renewable energy. Our first step towards a safe and livable future begins here.
