We demand public consultations on Trudeau's $4.5 billion pipeline buy out

The Trudeau government just announced that it will spend at least $4.5 billion in public money to buy the TransMountain pipeline from Kinder Morgan along with the company’s core assets. That means the Prime Minister just made everyone in Canada a shareholder for this pipeline.

So let’s start by asking for MPs, who are now our local TransMountain executives, to hold shareholder meetings across the country. Before this pipeline deal is finalized in the fall, Kinder Morgan’s shareholders are going to get a chance to vote on it, and we want the same thing. If this government is going to pony up public cash for their pipeline bailout, we think people all across Canada deserve the right to have their say.

commit to holding public consultations on Kinder Morgan in every riding across the country. If Kinder Morgan’s shareholders get to vote on this deal before it’s finalized, your stakeholders - everyone in Canada - deserve a say before you put public funds, the climate, and communities at risk.

Commit to holding public consultations on the pipeline in every riding across the country.
