Canada's Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver has been invited to join the Tar Sands Healing Walk, a tour of the front lines of his tar sands expansion plans, by a coalition of First Nations, Metis, Inuit, environmental groups, and watershed citizens -- but he hasn't replied yet.
The Harper government is engaged in one of the most reckless projects in the history of Canada -- the rapid expansion of tar sands production and exports -- and the least he could do is visit the people and places that are being sacrificed as a result.
Folks like Bill McKibben and Naomi Klein will be joining the walk, and it doesn't seem to much to ask that Minister Oliver do so too. Could you send him an invitation and ask him to walk the tar sands on July 5th?
