Event organized to commemorate Josef Vavroušek, important Czechoslovak environmentalist and fist Czechoslovak environmental minister which was very active in protection of environment on local, regional, European and global level. He initiated the process of European ministerial conferences "Environment for Europe" which is still running. In Rio conference 1992 he proposed also important structural change of UN system in favour of environmental protection. He died in an avalanche in Tatra mountains in March 1995. This year he would celebrate 70 years. During the day participants will hike to the West Tatra Mountains - to the Parichvost Valley, to the place, where Josef Vavroušek died. In the evening there will be discussion in the Jurika penzion on sustainable development of Czech and Slovak Republics in relation to the global problems and future role of NGOs. All guests are invited.
