... maybe don't take money from the companies that are driving the climate crisis?

The next President of the United States is going to have to take bold, rapid action on climate change. We can't wait another four years.

If humanity is to have a fair chance of limiting global warming to 2 degrees Celsius -- the internationally agreed upon target -- then we need to keep 80 percent of fossil fuels underground, unburned.

Meanwhile, fossil fuel companies continue to use their vast wealth and influence to confuse the public and maintain the status quo. Oil, coal and gas companies donated tens of millions of dollars to candidates in 2012 alone -- a number that amounts to pocket change for multi-billion dollar companies, but reaps them a stupendous return on their investment.

We need to keep fossil fuels in the ground. How can we trust that Presidential candidates will take the kind of bold action needed, if they're already beholden to the fossil fuel industry? If we’re going to believe politician’s assurances, we need to know that they’re not taking campaign contributions from the very industry that’s driving this crisis.

UPDATE: Bernie Sanders, Jill Stein, and Martin O'Malley have already taken the pledge to refuse fossil fuel industry campaign contributions!
