UNESCO: protect world heritage sites like Lamu Islands.

In Kenya, the proposed coal plant in Lamu poses an immediate threat to one of the world’s greatest natural and cultural sites and contradicts the Paris Climate Agreement ratified by the government.

But UNESCO, the international body responsible for protecting these sites, has the power to do more!

We call on the UNESCO World Heritage Committee to demand that the Kenyan government comply with the Paris Agreement by stopping the proposed coal plant in Lamu and other fossil fuel developments that are fueling climate change and destroying World Heritage sites.
