Earlier this year, New York City made history by committing to divest $5 billion in fossil fuel stocks from its pension funds and suing five of the biggest fossil fuel companies responsible for worsening impacts of climate change like Superstorm Sandy.

Now, with world leaders and Mayors from around the world gathered in California for the Global Climate Action Summit, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the city would invest $4 billion into climate solutions.

With the world watching, now is the time for those of us outside of the negotiation rooms to lead our communities in demanding real climate leadership.
