This year, Brazil is hosting the biggest climate talks: COP30.

Instead of leading the way to a fair and just energy transition, they are auctioning the Amazon forest to fossil fuel companies with no plan to stop.

But there’s still time. The federal government and the Ministers have the power to make a plan now and stop any further fossil fuel expansion.

Dear Ministers,

Brazil is hosting one of the most important climate talks of the year – COP30.

But instead of setting the pathway to move away from fossil fuels, the government is going backwards by auctioning off crucial habitat in the Amazon rainforest.

When people asked your administration about the National Energy Transition Plan, you insisted that the money we get from fossil fuels will pay for a fair and just energy transition. But we know that’s not true.

This is why we are demanding a clear and concrete plan – an action plan that will ensure Brazil has a safe future from the climate crisis. This includes: 
- Stopping all new fossil fuels exploration in the Amazon and phasing out existing wells;
- Making sure everyone has access to energy by 2028, with fair prices and community control over renewables;
- Investing R$1 billion each year in public universities for research and training in renewable energy, and;
- Taxing the ultra-wealthy to finance the transition, without relying on fossil fuels.

We want immediate action, not slogans and empty promises. We count on you to set us back onto the right course and take action on the climate crisis.

A sociedade civil e movimentos populares estão em busca de maior transparência e ações concretas do Plano Nacional de Transição Energética (PLANTE). Enquanto o Governo Federal defende novos poços de petróleo na Amazônia como solução, sabemos que os lucros não estão sendo direcionados para a transição justa que o Brasil precisa.

Diante disso, exigimos respostas claras e um plano concreto, com:
- Fim imediato da exploração de combustíveis fósseis na Amazônia e o plano para desativar poços existentes;
- Universalização do acesso à energia até 2028, com tarifa social justa e democratização das renováveis;
- Investimento de R$1 bilhão/ano em universidades públicas para pesquisa e formação em energias renováveis;
- Taxação de grandes fortunas para financiar a transição, sem depender de fósseis.

Ministro, quando o PLANTE será efetivamente apresentado à sociedade? Como serão garantidos os recursos para uma transição energética justa? Quais as etapas, valores e metas para ela acontecer? Haverá atribuição dos royalties dos novos poços de petróleo para execução do Plano de Transição Energética?
