There is no single story when it comes to the climate crisis and we need storytellers from around the world to call for the action we need. Through the Climate Stories Hub, we aim to showcase a diversity of climate stories and support storytellers in amplifying creations to their networks and communities.

We welcome content from storytellers at various levels – from beginner to professional! We especially welcome stories about resistance to the fossil fuel industry, courageous people power, realities of climate impacts, and justice-centered solutions.

However, we believe that storytelling and stories should not make someone else feel unwelcome.

When submitting your creations to the hub, you agree that you and your creations are:

  • Respectful of people, traditions, cultures, etc.
  • Non-extractive and have the full consent of subjects

Please keep in mind that 350.org and the Climate Stories Hub does not provide payment for stories. By submitting to the Climate Stories Hub, you are volunteering to share your story with the storytelling community and the larger 350.org network. Published stories do not necessarily reflect the views and voice of 350.org.

We will be reviewing submissions throughout the year with a publishing cap of 3-5 stories per month.

Check out our FAQ below to learn more about submitting to the hub.

Climate Stories Hub FAQ

What can I submit to the Climate Stories Hub?

You can submit completed climate stories of any medium–from cartoons to videos to personal essays! They can be about you and your communities’ climate realities, victories, hopes, and more. We especially welcome stories about:

  • Resistance to the fossil fuel industry – The ongoing work to end fossil fuel reliance and/or the people and communities in the fight
  • Courageous people power – How people and communities are working to meet climate challenges and/or call for the action we need
  • Realities of climate impacts – What the climate crisis looks like for you and your communities
  • Justice-centered solutions – Solutions-focused projects that are committed to building a just, equitable, and prosperous future for all

Submissions do not have to be in English–we welcome all languages! We may seek your consent to translate your story for the site.

If your creation has been previously published, you will need to make sure the publisher allows the reproduction/reprint of your creations elsewhere. If you want to submit an article, we will only be reviewing and accepting current journalism articles that date back no more than 3 months.

You can submit multiple creations, but please submit each story in a separate email. Please keep in mind that we will only be publishing 3-5 stories per month.

The editorial team reserves the right to not accept submissions at our discretion. We do ask that you read and follow our submissions guidelines to make sure your creations are in line with the mission and values of 350.org and the Climate Stories Hub.

How do I submit my creations?

To submit your completed climate stories, email [email protected] with your story as an attachment or link.

Don’t forget to include your preferred name, where you are based, and the title of your story!  You can also add a preferred share image and a brief bio about yourself (a couple of sentences) to publish alongside your creation.

If you are submitting visual art such as a video or photo series, please include a short description about your creation.

If you have multiple creations, please submit each story in a separate email.

What format should I use?

Depending on the medium, here are the formats we recommend for stories:

.DOC or .DOCX
JPEG or PNG
MP3
MP4

If you would like to share a video or audio, please upload it onto a video hosting platform (e.g. YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, etc.)  and share the link with us.

How long can my creations be?

This depends on your preferred medium.

We do not have a maximum length for films or videos. For written stories, please keep your submissions under 2,000 words.

What happens after I submit a story?

Once you submit a creation, a member of the 350.org editorial team will review your submission to ensure it is fit for publication. We do reserve the right to not accept stories at our discretion.

If your submission is accepted, an editorial team member may provide guidance or feedback to you in case any changes or edits are needed. We want to work with you to make sure your creations are in line with your vision, goals, and desired impact. We may also seek your consent to have stories translated for the website.

When ready, your climate story will be published on stories.350.org. You can then share your creation to your networks and communities and/or even amplify fellow storytellers’ creations!

Please keep in mind that 350.org and the Climate Stories Hub does not provide payment for stories. By submitting to the Climate Stories Hub, you are volunteering to share your story with the storytelling community and the larger 350.org network. Do I maintain ownership if my submission(s) are accepted for publication?

In the event that another organization or media outlet wants to republish your story, we will contact you to seek your permission.
