Minerals Council Members: it's time to leave

The world is acting on climate change, while Australia’s politicians are held back by the coal lobby groups such as the Minerals Council of Australia (MCA). We call on all members to leave this organisation and stop funding one of the world’s most notorious anti-climate action industry lobby groups.

An overwhelming majority of Australians support action on climate change. Renewable energy is cheaper than coal and we have everything we need to create a better world for our kids now.

No one wants unprecedented bushfires and drought to become the norm, so we look to our government to act. Every Prime Minister who has attempted to put climate action into law and has failed. So, as we enter 2020 we have no climate change policies and remain at the back of the pack globally, even attempting to hold back global action.

Why are we here? Look no further than groups such as the Minerals Council of Australia. Cashed up with membership fees from some of the world’s biggest corporations, they use their revolving door with politics, donations for access and advertising to prop up the ageing coal industry.

We are calling on all members of the Minerals Council to withdraw their membership if they are committed to addressing climate change in line with the science, and public opinion.
