Le 27 mai prochain, rassemblons nous tous à Montréal contre le projet d'oléoduc Trans Mountain de la compagnie Kinder Morgan visant à transporter du pétrole issu des sables bitumineux de l'Alberta à la Colombie-Britannique.. Montrons notre solidarité envers les Premières nations, les citoyens-nes et le gouvernement de Colombie-Britannique qui s'opposent à ce pipeline. 

Le dimanche 27 mai, de 13h30 à 15h30, des Premières nations, des artistes, des organisations environnementales, des citoyens-nes et beaucoup d'autres se rassembleront pour dire NON au projet d'oléoduc de Kinder Morgan. Soyez des nôtres!

En quoi ce projet est problématique :

- Il vise à permettre l'expansion de l'exploitation des sables bitumineux albertain, le pétrole le plus salle de la planète.

- À lui seul, ce projet aurait les mêmes impacts climatiques que l’ajout de 2 700 000 millions de véhicules léger par an. 

- C'est 4 fois plus toutes les réductions des émissions de carbone à ce jour dans un seul projet en Colombie Britannique.

- Les 2/3 des Premières Nations le long du tracé du pipeline n'ont pas signé d'entente avec Kinder Morgan, plusieurs s'opposent fermement (tout comme la province et les villes de Burnaby et Vancouver).

- L'exportation du pétrole transporté par ce nouveau oléoduc nécessiterait 400 navires-citernes par an pour traverser la mer des Salish. Un déversement de ce pétrole lourd et hautement toxique dans ces eaux endommagerait en permanence les communautés côtières et la faune, y compris les populations d'orques et de saumons.

- Le pipeline traverse plus de 1 300 cours d’eau qui risqueraient d’être pollués. 

Or, il y a urgence à démontrer notre solidarité ! la compagnie texane Kinder Morgan a donné jusqu'au 31 mai au gouvernement fédéral pour résoudre la crise autour du passage de l'oléoduc Trans Mountain, voulant forcer son passage. En réponse à cet ultimatum, Justin Trudeau s’est porté à la défense de l’entreprise du Texas et annoncé que son gouvernement prendra les moyens financiers et législatifs pour que ce projet se réalise malgré l’impasse politique dans laquelle il est embourbé.

Pourtant, rappelons que la mobilisation des Premières nations et de la population, les nombreux recours légaux, la fragilité économique du projet et les efforts d'obstruction de la Colombie-Britannique ont rendu ce projet incertain aux yeux même des actionnaires de la compagnie.

Faites circuler l'événement facebook parmis vos familles, amis et collègues. Ce rassemblement sera festif, joyeux et familial. 

Ensemble :
- Soyons solidaires contre les projets de pipelines de sables bitumineux! 
- Refusons que Trudeau gaspille notre argent public pour un projet climaticide!
- Affirmons haut et fort le droit des Premières nations à dire NON et des provinces à faire respecter leurs compétences en matières environnementales!

<strongSunday May 27th, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm First nations, artists, environmental organisations, citizens and many more will gather to say NO to Kinder Morgan’s pipeline project. 

Join us ! Let’s show our solidarity towards First nations, citizens and the BC government opposing the pipeline.

Why this project is problematic :
- It aims to enable the expansion of Alberta’s tar sands, the most polluting oil of the planet.

- Just by itself, this project would have the same climate change impacts as the addition of 2 700 000 million vehicles per year. 

- 2/3 of the First Nations along the pipeline route have not signed an agreement with Kinder Morgan, with several opposed firmly (just as the province and the cities of Burnaby and Vancouver).

- Oil transport with this new pipeline would require 400 tankers per year to cross the Salish Sea. A spill of this heavy and highly toxic oil in these waters would damage permanently the coastal communities and wildlife, including populations of killer whales and salmon.

- The pipeline passes through more than 1 300 watercourses that might be contaminated

It’s urgent to send a strong message of solidarity! The texas company Kinder Morgan has given the federal government the date of May 31st as the deadline to resolve the crisis surrounding the Trans Mountain pipeline, wanting to force its passage. By responding to this ultimatum, Justin Trudeau took the defense of the Texas company and announced that his government will take the financial means and legislation to realize this project , despite the political impasse in which he is mired.

However, let’s remember that the mobilization of the First Nations and the population, the 20 legal challenges, the economic fragility of the project and the efforts of obstruction from British Columbia have made this project an uncertainy, even in the eyes of the company's shareholders.
