Three eco-minded friends in Caledon decided to answer the call put out by 350.org for communities to host rallies on the day of the first All-Candidates debate - September 8th. We wish to call on Canadians (in this case, Caledon Citizens) to remember that Canada is “Still on Fire!!” and so in making the decision about which candidate or party to choose, we need to pay attention to which are serious on climate.
As Caledon residents we feel it’s up to us to bring the impacts of climate change front and centre leading up to politicians’ campaign trail. On September 8th, while catastrophic climate events continue to erupt around us, we will be demanding emergency-level climate action.
Join us at King & 50 to call for a moratorium on fossil fuel expansion and just transition legislation. Together, we can show our elected officials that climate change will be a central issue to voters this year as record-breaking climate events ravage communities coast-to-coast. Let’s remind our candidates and community that the climate emergency is at hand, and that our votes matter! Bring face masks, friends, and signs as we demand our politicians to muster up the courage to combat the climate crisis.
And please respect everyone’s safety & dignity: stay off the road, wear your masks (we are not THOSE protesters!!), and maintain social distancing.
See you on September 8th!
