Canada On Fire Day of Action

Wolfville On Fire: Climate Emergency Day of Action

Wednesday, September 8, 6:00 PM
Willow Park, Wolfville, NS
Willow Park
Wolfville, Nova Scotia, B4P 2C9, Canada
Join us at Willow Park, where together, we can show our elected officials that climate change will be a central issue to voters this year as record-breaking climate events ravage communities across Canada. We'll be meeting at 6:00pm at Willow Park in a festive, welcoming manner where music provided by Zak Miller, giant bubble making, poster-making and optional BYO picnic-eating will be taking place. At 6:30, we'll start with the program of brief speakers, meeting other attendees and sharing the plan for the walk. We'll also be circulating a petition among attendees which states that the climate emergency is a top election issue that will inform how you vote. At 7:15, we'll begin our walk on the two sidewalks of Main Street to Clock Park with our signs, noise makers and lanterns. Those still wishing to join after arrival at Clock Park, will divide into 4 groups to take 4 different routes back to Willow Park with our lanterns and petitions, talking with other folks we see along the way about whether climate action is on their minds as they plan their vote. We'll conclude the evening at 8pm in Willow Park to collect the petitions and say a final thank you. This a positive, peaceful, family-friendly, choose your own comfort level of action event welcome to all! Please bring and wear your mask and social distance wherever possible.

Rules:

Please make sure that you follow local and regional COVID-19 safety protocol in your area. We recommend wearing a mask and remaining socially distanced throughout the event.
