Celebrate the Oxford City Council Divestment Commitment!
This summer Oxford City Council became the first in the UK to publicly commit to divest from the fossil fuel industry - precluding direct investments in the industry doing most to block progress on climate action. This is wonderful news for the UK and global movement and we hope you can join us to raise a hearty cheer before the film.
Watch the new film ‘Disruption’
Featuring Oxford’s own filmmaker Zoe Broughton and climate change communication expert George Marshall in the credits, this film is the story of our unique moment in history. We are living through an age of tipping points and rapid social and planetary change. We’re the first generation to feel the impacts of climate disruption, and the last generation that can do something about it. The film enlarges the issue beyond climate impacts and makes a compelling call for bold action that is strong enough to tip the balance to build a clean energy future.
Get stuck in!
While the Fossil Free Oxfordshire campaign has many great things to celebrate - this is not the end! Oxfordshire County Council has £42million invested directly in fossil fuels, and we want to persuade it to move these investments away from this damaging industry. Oxford City Council will also be supported in going the extra mile and shifting indirect investments away from this damaging industry. Sign the petition to help keep the pressure up!
Please join us on Monday 15th, 7-9pm at The Vaults to celebrate and enjoy Oxford’s premier of ‘Disruption’.
This event is being held as part of the People’s Climate Mobilisation - the largest global mobilisation around climate action the world has ever seen. Just ahead of the leaders summit on climate change in New York, hundreds of thousands of people around the world will be demanding ‘Action, Not Words’.
