Sunday, September 21, 10:00 AM Leard BlockadeBlack Mountain Creek Road2382, Australia
On September 21, thousands of Australians will turn out for one of the World’s largest ever days of climate action. Join us to show the world the power of the community fight to stop the largest coal mine currently being constructed in Australia.
"Under the banner: 'Save our climate from coalruption', residents of Maules Creek and surrounds are gathering at 10am on Sunday 21 September to bear witness to big coal, with a community walk down Leard Forest Road. The road is flanked to the east by existing open-cut coal mines, and to the west by the Leard State Forest, under threat from Whitehaven Coal’s Maules Creek project.
The march will see participants walk from the main entrance to the Maules Creek Project, to the original site of the #LeardBlockade camp. For participants who might not be able to walk so far, transport will be available to facilitate a shorter version of the walk.
Join afterwards for celebrations and a BBQ at the #LeardBlockade camp. All are welcome to come and stay for as long as they like in the camp.
