Jobs – Justice – Climate Action: Just Transition Now! The climate emergency is here. We need parliament to pass bold legislation that accelerates the transition to 100% renewable energy while creating millions of good, green jobs and respecting Indigenous sovereignty. The Council of Canadians and 350.org have joined forces to organize a nation-wide Day of Action calling attention to the federal government’s three-year-old, as-yet-unfulfilled, promise to pass a Just Transition Act. This day of action is meant to send a strong message to legislators, highlighting what could be attained with bold federal leadership. Come, join us in Lunenburg on March 12th to show your support for prompt and bold government action. You’re in for a lively theatrical event imagining the many environmental, social, and economic gains that could be made as we transition to a low-carbon future. Characters from an imagined future will speak briefly about carbon reduction, green jobs, affordable housing, public transit and poverty reduction. Masks and distancing required. Please make sure that you follow local and regional COVID-19 safety protocol in your area. We recommend wearing a mask and remaining physically distanced throughout the event.
