Calling all kay-aktivists, can-activists, and paddle board-activists!
Join our Vernon Climate Action Group Flotilla, to promote the message on a giant banner:
"We want local green jobs, not fossil fuel jobs far away in the tar sands. Let's keep our young people in the community!"
We will also encourage people to make smaller signs to carry, listing the jobs of the new green economy, such as 'geothermal', 'solar panels', 'organic farming', 'bicycle repair', etc...
Bring your own boat, or, just bring yourself. Paddleboards can be rented by the hour at the same spot.
10 AM -12 PM: We make banners and signs, and prepare the flotilla next to the Kal Lake Store parking lot.
12 PM: We launch the flotilla at Kal Beach (west side), heading parallell to the shore towards Alexander's Pub (east side).
12:30 PM: We unfurl the banners and signs... 'Photo op' time!
1:00 PM: We swim on the beach for fun, have a drink at Alexander's, pack up and leave!
