WHAT: Nanaimo high school students will walk out of school to kick off the Global Climate Strike week. This is a Fridays for Future action inspired by teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg.
WHERE: Outside the front doors of each individual high school. Those include Dover Bay Secondary, John Barsby Secondary, Nanaimo District Secondary School, Wellington Secondary. Island ConnectED students should join whichever high school is most convenient for them, and Vancouver Island University Students are encouraged to participate as well.
WHEN: The walkouts will start at the beginning of the lunch period and finish at the end of the lunch period. Students are encouraged to join in on the city-wide event in Diana Krall Plaza from 1pm to 3pm directly following the lunchtime walkouts.
