Laamafaru Festival means 'Laamu's Reefs Festival' and is the 4th annual atoll-wide festival, bringing together 11 islands and 13 schools in Laamu Atoll, Maldives to pledge #OurOcean #SafeAndProtected. We need to raise awareness about the conservation of entire marine ecosystems, including mangroves, seagrass, and coral reefs, plus the marine life that depends on them and the services they provide, in order to safeguard the Maldives from the negative effects of climate change.
On September 26th at Laamafaru Festival in L.Maamendhoo, schools will be creating giant sea creatures for a parade around the island. We are inviting anyone and everyone to join the parade and the Global #ClimateStrike together with homemade signs to promote healthy oceans as necessary for a healthy planet. You can come prepared with your own poster, or there will be a stall at the festival where you can make a sign, such as "Healthy Ocean = Healthy Planet" or "Laamu Atoll Plastic Free" or #ClimateStrikeMV. We must fight for #OurOcean #SafeAndProtected if we want to mitigate the negative effects of climate change!
