On September 27th, KPU Richmond campus students will walk out of class to join young climate strikers in the streets for the biggest global climate strike yet. We’ll join hundreds of thousands across the country in calling for a just transition that enshrines dignity and justice for all, supports the rights, title and sovereignty of Indigenous peoples, and ushers in a 100% renewable energy economy that leaves no one behind.
Our house is on fire. The climate crisis is an emergency but we’re not acting like it. Invite your colleagues, friends, family, clubs, and community. We need everyone.
Governments continue to justify their inaction by pretending that a wealthier economy needs such sacrifices, but there is no wealth, and even fewer jobs, on a dead planet. We finally need to treat the climate crisis as a crisis. The future isn’t some abstract time down the road; the future is here. The future is now.
It’s going to be a powerful moment, with millions of people around the world set to walk out of their classes, workplaces, and homes. Here in Canada, we’re mobilizing at a critical time. With the federal election just around the corner, let’s show every single political hopeful that our generation demands a climate plan in line with the scale of the crisis we face.
At 12:45 pm, we invite everyone to travel with us by sky train to attend the strike in Vancouver (Vancouver City Hall).
