Join us at 12 PM outside The Dental School to march with us to The Octagon and make a stand to demand CLIMATE JUSTICE! This strike is planned to be a GENERAL STRIKE, therefore we are encouraging everyone (not just school students), including, parents, teachers, politicians and workers to join us in making climate history!
The most valuable use of your time as a concerned citizen is to actively participate in Democracy and make your voice heard - this is how real and profound systemic change is made!
We are communicating with other schools, organisations, and the police to make the event fully safe and successful; we will have a police escort, trained marshals & first aid personnel as well as a wellbeing tent (with food and water) on the day.
The strike will include speeches, chanting, live music, cultural performances and this time, stalls from a variety of different climate organisations (such as Extinction Rebellion, Generation 0 and Oil Free Otago) with information and interactive displays set up around The Octagon.
The strike is scheduled to finish around 3 PM but if your place of work is fully opposed to the strike it’s completely fine if you just come along during your lunch break.
