Join us, as millions of us walk out of our homes and workplaces to join young people in the streets for the biggest global climate strike yet.
We will sit down and strike for climate action just like Greta Thunberg has in front of the parliament each Friday this year, and continue like we did with the 17 earlier strikes this last spring. The 20th and 27th of September are global dates and will also have an international focus.
We are sick and tired of cowardly politicians who lets the climate crisis affect our world and our future.
What's our message?
We are dropping our Friday classes and work because business as usual is futile when we are heading towards growing petroleum usage and therefore going against the reductions we promised in the Paris agreement. It's unreasonable to expect that we can continue our classes when there is so much insecurity about our future we would use the knowledge we were supposed to learn in class.
Why do we strike for climate?
Why should we be good students and workers when the governments contribution is to postpone the green shift and strengthen not our climate policies but oil dependencies. It is students and youths today that will have to clean up the mess after those who refuse to contribute to stop the climate crisis. This is our way voicing our concerns, but everyone regardless of age are welcome.
The Norwegian school strikers demands to our government:1. Reduce emissions by 53 % of Norwegian emissions within 2030 (compared to numbers from 1990)
2. 65 billion NOK each year for funding sustainability in developing countries
3. No new consessions for petroleum, instead we want more climate-friendly jobs in Norway.
4. Declare a climate emergency now!
