The fight against environmental degradation is a central part of our common fights against racism and outsized corporate power. It is central to our fights for deepened democracy, community decision-making, and community health. The climate crisis is here, and Broome County has already seen effects in the form of floods and crop failures. Our frontline communities, including young people, poor folk, and people of color, are most vulnerable to the environmental and social effects of climate collapse and must be at the forefront of environmental activism.
Let us create a culture of solidarity within our community in order to materialize climate resilience. The rally will be a family-friendly event: local organizations will have an opportunity to table, community members and students will be able to speak, and there will be music and art.
