Join us this September 20th in Galway City, Ireland as we walk out of our homes and workplaces to join young people in the streets for the biggest global climate strike yet.
WHEN?
FRIDAY 20th SEPTEMBER 12noon- 2pm
WHY?
Environmental destruction, increased greenhouse gas emissions, climate chaos are all an inescapable part of modern warfare, and enabled by the arms trade.
The fossil fuel and arms industries feed off each other, creating massive wealth for a small number, at the cost of millions of lives and ecological destruction. The amounts spent on armaments and war are colossal compared to resources put into creating a green environmentally sustainable society.
Fossil fuel resources are captured and controlled THROUGH ARMS.
Communities with lands rich with fossil fuels are murdered, wounded or displaced by governments THROUGH ARMS.
Carbon footprints of the world's armed forces and their killing machines is massive yet no-one is talking about it.
WE SAY:
'INVEST IN CARING FOR OUR PLANET & THE PEOPLE, NOT SPENDING ON DESTRUCTION & KILLING!'
Join us, be creative, show we care. Bring your energy, your face paints, your banners, placards, dancing shoes. Let's make music & history. We want an alternative to the system that brings war, and environmental disaster.
Our house is on fire. The climate crisis is an emergency but we’re not acting like it. Invite your colleagues, friends, family, clubs, and community. We need everyone.
