Here is news about plans so far.
We have to try to follow any lead we get from school strikers. This is not so easy in Lampeter, where there is not a strong school movement, so we are treading very lightly. We aim to keep away from the school premises, unless we are specifically invited; so we are meeting in Harford Square - the middle of Lampeter - as witness and support - to show that the outrage against what is happening to the planet is felt all over the country by all age groups.
We are hoping that some of the businesses in the town will join in - at least one shop-front, The Mulberry Bush, has been promised as a prominent poster and message board - and we are currently working down all the streets of the town to raise awareness.
A simultaneous action on 20th September is also being planned in Aberaeron, outside the Council offices, since the Ceredigion Council has still not declared a climate emergency, thanks to some deniers on the council. People who live nearer to Aberaeron than Lampeter are invited to join that action instead.
The timings are:
Lampeter - Harford Square - 20th Sept. - 10.00 - 1.00
Aberaeron - Penmorfa - 20th Sept. - 1.00 - 12.00
A banner for Lampeter is in production, and flyers are available, but we could do with more help for the visuals at Aberaeron.
Please contact carol.nixon2012@btinternet.com if you would like to be involved in any of the preparatory work. Also if you intend to join the Aberaeron action please let me know.
There is no limit to the number of people needed at the actions.
Look forward to seeing you on 20th.
Carol
