The procession will be an action demanding the government not to invest in the proposed coal mining in Mui Basin. Secondly, seeking cancellation of a concession signed between the Kenyan government and Fenxi China for Mui Block CD. Stop the transaction and procurement of coal in Block A &B with HCIG and Liketh. To pressurize the government to stop the Mwingi Gypsum factory to stop coal fired in production of its product. Further to this, the company needs to disclose their profits and the community entitled benefits from the proceeds. And lastly, demand for utilization of renewable energy in the factory and reviving of the Kitui County Kanyoonyo Solar Plant as an alternative source of energy. A call on the Kenyan government to stop creating an enabling environment for the investors to invest using fossil fuels but instead develop regulations to compel these companies to divest into renewable clean energy.
This exercise is a complement to the ongoing National Campaign on green clean renewable energy that focuses on the call for a shift from investment into fossil fuels and divesting into renewable clean sustainable energy. The action is geared towards promotion, protection and safeguarding climate justice
