From November 30 to December 12th world leaders will negotiate a climate change agreement at a meeting called COP21 in Paris. More than 1000 marches across the globe are being planned before the talks to demand action on climate change and climate justice. This is a crucial time, especially for low-lying atolls like the Marshall Islands.
With this in mind, everyone is invited to JOIN OUR MARCH at 4pm starting from CMI and ending at the Capitol. There, we'll take a photo demonstration that demands world leaders to lower global temperatures to 1.5 C, the temperature where RMI is safe from rising sea levels. Join us!
We will also launch a social media campaign, and we call on all those who care about the Pacific and the Marshall Islands to join as well. Follow these steps:
1. TAKE A SELFIE with a sign/banner/poster that says either "Keep Fossil Fuels in the Ground" or "1.5 to stay alive" or "Climate Justice: It's about survival." Your pick!
2. BE CREATIVE If you live in RMI, use scenes that highlight climate change effects; a broken sea wall, trees dried up by drought etc.
3. UPLOAD to Facebook, twitter, instagram and make sureto use these hashtags: #1point5 #marshallislands #climatechange #StandUpForThePacific#PacificClimateWarriors #PacificMarch#WeThePacific #4PacIslands #FrontlineTruths #ClimateJustice
