On the 12th of May the people of Dunedin will take collective action to remind ANZ bank that by continuing to invest in coal, oil and gas, they continue to risk a safe climate future for us all.
Divestment has proven to be one of the most powerful weapons we have in the fight for climate justice.
By shifting public support away from the fossil fuel industry, divestment campaigns have been breaking the hold that fossil fuel companies have on our economy and our governments and make room for real climate solutions.
Here in Dunedin we will take bold, creative action to let ANZ know that investing in fossil fuels was not okay a year ago, and it is even less okay today. By taking action we will show ANZ what we value: commitment to a fossil free future.
Recently Westpac revealed a strong climate policy, showing us that by enough of us joining together we can see real impact.
ANZ however haven't given up on fossil fuels, so we haven't given up on them. In the words of Rick Astley, “Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down”.
This event ends at 10:30am with our debrief that evening.
Join us and we’ll see you soon!
