On Wednesday 26th October South Tyneside Green Party will be hosting a stall outside Barclays Bank, South Shields. This is as part of Friends of the Earth and 350.org’s week of action highlighting Barclays’ colossal investment in the fossil fuels industry, estimated to be around £15.6 billon, and their ownership of Third Energy, a company which has recently been given licence to frack Ryedale, North Yorkshire. We’ll also be alerting the public about threats closer to home, including open cast mining in Northumberland and Underground Coal Gasification beneath the North Sea.
