This year ,we will be honouring Africa Day of action alongside Ramadhan. Ramadhan is regarded as a holy month in the Islamic calendar since Muslims have to fulfill one of the pillars of Islam which is fast(saum), Lamu being known in the preservation of its culture we are therefore bringing people together in breaking their fast which is part of the Swahili/Islamic tradition as we discuss about the issue of coal investment in Lamu and its effects to the society. This is an event that will attract more than 100 men in the Society.We will start the event off a couple of hours to iftar with a screening of (kaala patthar) that showcases impacts of coal at the symbolic Mkunguni Square and after that a hefty discussion with the community as we have iftar together and a close.Please join us to deCOALonize Lamu.
