A women’s press briefing for climate – spreading awareness of climate change its impacts to homes, health and children. The women will do a press briefing with journalists and make s submission to the Executive Governor of Kaduna state presenting issues that affect them as it relates to climate change and other environmental issues. The women will also advocate for access and availability of energy efficient cook stove at an affordable price or for free. OBJECTIVES • To educate the women and the general public on the impacts of climate change. • To voice out to the government for commitment on environmental protection and women’s protection as their rights. • To engage women and create a platform for them to speak out on climate change impacts as it affects their homes. • To advocate legislation and policies regarding humans’ rights in relation to climate change and other environmental crises. • To advocate for safety of women who are most vulnerable to climate change. • To sensitize the public on the benefits of climate action. • Increase awareness on sustainable lifestyles as means for climate change mitigation.

This film comes at the right time when the government is planning to licence Ngaji block which is found in the Eco system areas as well as the Queen Elizabeth National park and this will destroy the environment if we don't stand up against such un fair decision that is about to be made by the government. And its after show this film that we shall start to plan and make formal requests on how we shall plan our march in town.

Throughout history, arts have played a major role in recording and reflecting the state of human society and the natural world in which society exists. In the 1990s, thousands of HIV/AIDS Quilts (blankets) were exhibited in Washington, DC, to bring attention to a disease that was previously not understood. The result of this exhibition was dramatic – people became more aware and governments began to fund research to find a cure. Using artwork and comments displayed on parachutes, the campaign hopes to accomplish similar goals for appealing to the conscience of people especially the policy makers to take real Climate actions in Nigeria. The parachutes (non-functional) are circular pieces of cloth decorated with artwork and personal comments about our concerns about the health of our planet. Parachutes can be seen as “safety nets” and when held by groups during demonstrations or collectively displayed in large numbers, they transform into powerful messages of strength, hope and communal determination. At least 20 Senior Secondary Schools in FCT Abuja are expected to produce one parachutes and at least one other colourful painting of their choice and comments about climate change and living sustain-ably. The Parachutes and Arts will show us where we have been, where we are now, and where we might go. Saving the environment is vital to our health, safety and future, and “parachutes and arts” are a metaphor for this process. On this day also, the students will join other youths across the world to strike for the climate- The event is part of activity making children's day which is celebrated in Nigeria on May 27th. Lawyers’ Environmental Action Team (LEAT) will conduct two near-parallel activities to celebrate the Africa day (May 25th, 2019). The two activities will be implemented on the 24th and 25th of May and will target two different groups. On the 24th of May, LEAT will work with secondary school students in Kijichi ward where students, both female and male will engage in a football competition and other sports. In between sport activities, LEAT and students will plant trees within the school premises and project burners and messages on the environment and climate change issues. LEAT anticipates the activity to reach 200 students. The 24th activity will take stock of the availability of students. For the 25th of May, LEAT will work with a Community Based Organization (CBO) to clean the beach and plant mangrove trees in Kijichi. Through the activity, stakeholders will collect loose plastic bottles and bags around the coast of Indian Ocean. The collection of plastics will be followed by the planting of mangrove trees thus align with local and global efforts to fight increased plastic pollution in water bodies.

Et, cette rencontre sera précédée du dépôt d'une note de position des OSC de San-Pedro le 24 Mai, à l'endroit des autorités administratives de la localité - (2) l'organisation d'une conférence de presse/débat à Abidjan le 25 Mai par JVE Côte d'Ivoire et l'appui de GRAIN pour dénoncer le projet de la centrale et présenter les conclusions de l'étude réalisée en Côte d'Ivoire sur les impacts potentiels de la centrale de San-Pedro. En somme, une stratégie de communication (médias lignes, presses; réseaux sociaux, courtes vidéos) sera déployée autour de ces événements pour accroître leur visibilité.

The human environment and the natural environment deteriorate together; we cannot adequately combat environmental degradation unless we attend to causes related to human and social degradation. In fact, the deterioration of the environment and of society affects the most vulnerable people on the planet. Human beings, while capable of the worst, are also capable of rising above themselves, choosing again what is good, and making a new start, despite their mental and social conditioning. We are able to take an honest look at ourselves, to acknowledge our deep dissatisfaction, and to embark on new paths to authentic freedom. It is essential that the attention given to climate change and sustainable development on the event translates into real commitments from government towards the society and giving voice to the poorest, to ensure they are heard and have a decent peace and prosperity of future generations.

Africa my Land, my Continent

May 25th as discussed we came up with a plan of targeting youth and children. The plan is to have the day of Action in an abandoned mine 33 km from Newcastle KwaZulu-Natal known as DNC (Durnacol), the slogan is "Human Rights Not Hu-Mine-rights". We proposed the venue since the abandoned mine is a sore to the community, it is next to the high school that suffers with cracks and dust that comes from old remains of coal that were never rehabilitated. Why youth and children and the proposed venue?, I noticed that youth must know what happened there as the mine closed around 1998 so the youth have many questions with answers. The aim is to sensitize them and change their perception from seeing mine as development to see it as an unwanted extraction that is detriment to the environment and causes irreversible damage. The sudden retrenchment crippled many families and financially orphaned them, some never recovered till this day. The theme of the DoA is ''The future of an active mine can be seen in a mine that is closed or abandoned and the future of a proposed mine can be seen in both the active and the abandoned mine''. Part of our day activity will be to visit the active mine recently opened known as Ikhwezi Mine which we lobbied against but ultimately it was granted mining rights by DMR. This will paint a vivid picture that Ikhwezi Mine is heading the towards the same direction as DNC ( Durnacol). With children we'll use the opportunity for a photo shoot that we'll send message to DBSA. children will take a photowith placards carrying a message that must get across: ''We are the Children, we are the World'', ''Protect our Future and Stop funding fossil fuel''. Deux journées concrète action climat sous le thème: JEUNES DE LA RDC VERS L’ACCES POUR TOUS A L’ENERGIES 100 % RENOUVELABLE A L’HORISON 2030 » La République Démocratique du Congo a un taux national d’électrification de 9%, et d’1% seulement pour le monde rural, alors que 78% de la population congolaise vit dans le Congo profond. Plusieurs opportunités existent en République Démocratique du Congo, notamment les vastes ressources naturelles et minérales. En plus d’avoir un sous-sol riche en minerais, la RDC possède suffisamment de potentiel énergétique pour alimenter en électricité les trois quarts du continent Africain. Le pays connait beaucoup de problèmes sur le plan des infrastructures, empêchant ainsi l’interconnexion entre province bien que le potentiel énergétique soit très élevé. Face à tous ces défis, les énergies renouvelables ont avantage comparatif avéré. Le principal atout des énergies renouvelables réside dans le fait qu’elles peuvent être localisées sur un point précis (sur ou hors réseau) ainsi qu’engendrer un impact tangible et immédiat. Dans la plupart des cas, elles évitent l’exposition aux diverses formes de pollutions, améliorent la santé humaine, développe l’économie locale et favorisent la préservation de l’environnement. Malgré ces avantages incontestables, les énergies renouvelables tardent à trouver leur essor en RDC. La principale cause de ce retard est imputable aux cadres institutionnels et légaux qui ne sont guère favorables aux investissements dans ce secteur. Bien qu’actuellement en pleine mutation, ils demeurent néanmoins encore vagues et incohérents et ces atermoiements sont un frein à tout financement au développement et déploiement des énergies renouvelables dans la République Démocratique du Congo. La République Démocratique du Congo à d’énormes potentiels en énergies renouvelables, ceci ne fait plus aucuns doutes, ces potentiels sont bien présents et tangibles partout dans le pays. De manière succincte on peut nommer le solaire, l’hydro, la biomasse et les biocarburants. Compte tenu de tous ces défis et face au déficit d’information auquel la population congolaise en général et Kinoise en particulier est confrontée, Hop Land Congo avec tous ces partenaires organisent « 2 journées d’actions climat du 24 et 25 Mai 2019 » qui se présentent comme suit : une journée de réflexion sur la promotion des énergies renouvelable et la lutte contre les fossiles en RDC ; une journée de sensibilisation à vélos suivi d’un plaidoyer pour l’accès pour tous à l’énergie propre. Ces activités se dérouleront selon le programme établi ci-dessous, sous le thème général « jeunes congolais vers l’accès pour tous à l’énergie 100 % renouvelable a l’horizon 2030 »

Le développement des sociétés est essentiellement lié à l’énergie et actuellement, quand on parle d’énergie on pense aux combustibles. Les combustibles, riches en carbone et hydrogène, issus de la transformation de matières organiques enfouies dans le sol pendant des millions d’années sont les énergies fossiles. Elles représentent aujourd’hui plus des trois quarts de la consommation mondiale d’énergie primaire, dans les transports, l’industrie et l'habitat. Elles sont également largement majoritaires (plus des deux tiers) dans la production de l’électricité. Cependant, elles sont très émettrices de gaz à effet de serre c'est-à-dire dégagent beaucoup de particules qui polluent l’atmosphère et leur quantité sur Terre est limitée. De part ces inconvénients sur l’atmosphère et par ricochet sur le climat Il est donc nécessaire de développer davantage les énergies renouvelables pour continuer à nous éclairer, nous chauffer, faire fonctionner les divers moteurs et bien d’autres fonctions encore. Les avantages des énergies renouvelables sont nombreux, car ces dernières sont en général propres, sûres et surtout, elles existent en quantité illimitée, c’est pour présenter ces avantages, promouvoir leur utilisation et la nécessité de lutter contre le réchauffement climatique en réduisant les émissions de gaz à effet de serre que les jeunes des collèges ont décidé d’organiser une séance de sensibilisation à l’endroit du public, de leurs pairs et des décideurs/acteurs du domaine de l’énergie. Au cours de cette séance, il y aura une communication sur les Energies Renouvelables, un sketch montrant les inconvénients des énergies fossiles et les solutions apportées par les Energies Renouvelables et des présentations d’Affiches montrant les recommandations à l’endroit des ménages, des décideurs et des jeunes. Pour clôturer la séance, il est prévu un match de football entre les jeunes des différents collèges impliqués à savoir les CEG Pahoun, Pilone et Dantokpa au Bénin.

I.INTRODUCTION Le Parc de Virunga est depuis bientôt une décennie, sous les appétits gloutons des riches compagnies occidentales, qui veulent a tout pris s’accaparer du pétrole dont le parc de Virunga renferme la grande partie, en défaveur des communautés locales qui subiront les conséquences et les affres de la destruction de l’écosystème de ce grand patrimoine international. Face a ces ambitions capitalistes a caractère inhumain, qui ne privilégie que le lucre, et considérant que les politiciens ferment les yeux , et gardent une attitude de déni et de corrompus, en soutenant l’industrie fossile qui a des répercussions malheureuses sur la vie humaine et l’écosystème, avons résolu de regrouper les communautés victimes de ce complot. Afin de se ranger comme un seul homme et montrer a la face du monde le degré de refus et d’opposition contre ce projet macabre, dont la finalité consiste a décimer les âmes, la faune et la flore. II. DESCRIPTION DE L’EVENEMENT Ainsi donc, pour la journée de mobilisation du 25 mai 2019, a partir de 10h, les associations environnementales, les étudiants, les élèves et enseignants de la ville de Goma et ceux vivant a proximité du parc de virunga, seront entrain de manifester sur des lieux publics, avec calicots, t-shirts # Afrika vuka,…afin de décourager tous ceux qui sont impliqués dans cette messe noire. Pour la ville de Goma, les manifestants seront regroupés sur le terrain de la SOTRAKI et a NYAKAKOMA pour ceux résidant aux alentours du parc de Virunga. Les messages qui vont paraitre sur les calicots, une fois conçus, seront envoyés a l’équipe dirigeante de 350 Africa pour toilettage. Il en est de même pour différents slogans qui seront prononcés. Chaque groupe social présent a la manifestation devra avoir un message et un mot appropriés pour la circonstance. Bien entendu qu’au niveau de Goma, nous comptons inviter l’autorité provinciale, le maire de la ville, le chef de division de l’environnement, le Directeur du parc de virunga, le chef de division du tourisme et le chargé de l’environnement de la Mission des nations unies au Congo, ainsi que la notabilité locale. Un match de football entre les élèves de 6me années du secondaire de l’INSTITUT PACIFIQUE et ceux de l’INSTITUT BUKASANYA. L’équipe qui aura gagnée bénéficiera de 80 dollars américains et la perdante 40 dollars américains. Apres le match, interviendra le cocktail pour la clôture de la manifestation. Cependant, en vue de lever plus haut notre voix, je propose a l’équipe dirigeante de 350 Afrique de prendre en charge aussi la réunion que 350- vam et les partenaires du consortium , a laquelle nous convier le ministre provincial de l’environnement, le Gouverneur de la province du Nord-Kivu, la MONUSCO, le Directeur du Parc de Virunga, les administrateurs des territoires de Rutshuru , Masisi et Lubero (trois territoires sur lesquels s’étend le parc de virunga(.Cette réunion est programmée pour le 27 mai 2019 de 10h a 11h. Seront conviées aussi a cette rencontre les responsables de 14 associations environnementales qui sont a pieds d’œuvre a Goma. Le compte rendu de cette reunion pourrait figurer certes, dans la revue virtuelle de 350 Afrique et larguée sur plusieurs chaines et medias du monde. III DUREE DE L’EVENEMENT Cet événement, eu égard a l’intérêt que revêt le parc de Virunga [crée en 1925], tant sur le plan national qu’international et son historique, s’échelonne sur deux jours. La première journée est celle prévue pour différentes manifestations , a Goma et a Nyakakoma, tandis que la seconde est celle programmée pour la grande réunion dans laquelle, 350-vam et les partenaires veulent attirer l’attention particulière des autorités locales, provinciales, nationales ainsi que les responsables des organisations internationales, œuvrant en République Démocratique du Congo. Encore une fois, 350 Afrique devra nous aider a concevoir et élaborer l’ordre du jour. Enfin, la lutte contre l’exploration du petrole dans le parc de virunga est et sera de longue haleine. Notre action veut faire de la lumière sur les initiatives des organisations de jeunesses visant à promouvoir les énergies renouvelables. To create awareness against fossil fuels project and together we can win the battle. To promote tree planting spirit amongst the growing youthful generation through the use of Art,debate and culture. To promote the use of renewable energies such as hydro,sola and other renewable energies for a green,clean and a healthy Zambia and the world at large.

This event is a celebration of African cultural heritage. As such it will bring together people of communities to jubilate our cultural diversities. Through traditional music and dances we will demonstrate the long history of our lands and explain how all that is changing due to climate change. People will be enlightened on the impacts of climate crises and the threats it poses. We aim to create awareness of climate change and call to action through this mass advocacy.

The event Grassroots women sports for Climate Justice - is a sporting festival that will bring together grassroots women and youth for sporting activities on 25th May, 2019 Ozoro, Delta State, Nigeria to kick out fossil fuels and call for clean and renewable energy. The event will also be used to Launch the Afrikavuka as well as commemorate the African Day on Climate action. The sporting activities are aimed at raising awareness on Climate change, Inspire actions and advocate for government, Leaders and all citizens to commit to end fossil fuels and invest in renewable energy. Cultural Competitions it will be a complete sporting festival for grassroots women, CSOs and Community based organizations in Delta State. Join us as we take a walk to the Secretariat, office of Oyo state governor demanding a break away from fossil fuel projects. To mark the Afrika Day of Action, GIFSEP intends to mobilize at least 20 Senior Secondary Schools in Abuja to produce and deliver climate conscious and justice messages on one parachute and other colourful paintings. This parachute and painting will be delivered through a march towards the parliament building asking the members of parliament to pass the climate bill and lead Nigeria on the road to climate justice.

The AfrikaVuka: Africa Day Youth Caravan Young Volunteers for the Envionment – The Gambia is launching and commemorating The AfrikaVuka: Africa Day Youth Caravan - Gambia Campaign on the 25th May, 2019 . The event brings together multi-stakeholders to raise global awareness and take positive environmental action to protect nature , halt and phase out fossil fuels while reducing carbon emissions and moving toward a sustainable energy transition .

A screening of movies talking on coal, oil exploration in other countries and how the impacts have been dire. OBJECTIVES • To stimulate climate action among youth. • Improve understanding of the connection between our environment, coal and oil exploration. • Foster improvements on environmental protection.

This year ,we will be honouring Africa Day of action alongside Ramadhan. Ramadhan is regarded as a holy month in the Islamic calendar since Muslims have to fulfill one of the pillars of Islam which is fast(saum), Lamu being known in the preservation of its culture we are therefore bringing people together in breaking their fast which is part of the Swahili/Islamic tradition as we discuss about the issue of coal investment in Lamu and its effects to the society. This is an event that will attract more than 100 men in the Society.We will start the event off a couple of hours to iftar with a screening of (kaala patthar) that showcases impacts of coal at the symbolic Mkunguni Square and after that a hefty discussion with the community as we have iftar together and a close.Please join us to deCOALonize Lamu.

L’activité consiste à une forte mobilisation des jeunes moins de 18 ans au tour d’un gala de football. Le gala va se dérouler devant les autorités politiques du pays. Avant chaque confrontation les enfants vont lire un message fort qui fait appel à une utilisation des énergies 100% renouvelable. A la fin, l’ensemble des messages seront rassemblés en un document et sera soumis au ministre de l’énergies, à la BOAD, et à la présidence. The activity involves a strong mobilization of young people under 18 at the turn of a football gala. The gala will take place before the political authorities of the country. Before each confrontation the children will read a strong message that uses a 100% renewable energy use. At the end, all messages will be gathered in one document and will be submitted to the Minister of Energy, BOAD, and the Presidency.

La grande mobilisation consiste à un grand rassemblement à la plage de Bargny en face de la centrale avec la participation des adultes ,des jeunes ,des groupements des femmes, les Organisations de la Société Civile, le Collectif des communautés affectées, le RAPEN, la presse nationale et internationale. Il est attendu environs 2000 personnes dans cette mobilisation.
