24 Hours to Stop Keystone XL

Posted Feb 13, 2012

Right now, the Senate is thinking about overriding President Obama's rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline, and forcing construction of this disastrous project.

Keystone would ship tar sands oil - the dirtiest oil on the planet - 1700 miles across America just so it can be exported from refineries in Texas. It would cross the sensitive Ogalala aquifer, which provides drinking water to millions of Americans across the Midwest.

The tar sands are North America's largest pool of carbon, and NASA's top scientist James Hansen says that exploiting them means 'essentially game over' for the climate

Not only that - the only independent study conducted about the pipeline's economic impact concluded that it will actually destroy more jobs than it creates with oil spills, leaks, and putting off the transition to a clean energy future.

A dangerous, leaky, carbon-spewing, job creating disaster? It's time for the Senate to stand up to Big Oil and reject Keystone XL.

Tell US Senators:

Don't allow 'game over' for the climate. Block any efforts to revive the dangerous Keystone XL tar sands pipeline.
