Tell Minnesota Governor: Stop Line 3

We know Governor Dayton has an important role to play to help stop Line 3 during his short remaining time in office. His Department of Commerce’s strong stance against the pipeline has been critical to the ground we’ve gained so far, and to the strong case we’ve built against Line 3.

We need all of Governor Dayton’s agencies, from the Department of Commerce to the Pollution Control Agency to the Department of Natural Resources, to do everything in their power to keep Line 3 from being built and harming our communities. Between now and the end of the year, we need to keep the pressure up!

Your message to Governor Dayton:

Dear Governor Dayton,

I am calling on you to do everything in your power to stop the Line 3 tar sands oil pipeline. The Public Utilities Commission made an immoral and illegal decision when they approved the permits for Line 3, and we’re counting on you to take bold action to correct this injustice.

The record on Line 3 is complete, and the truth is obvious: a new tar sands pipeline would be a danger to Minnesota, and an assault on indigenous rights, our lakes and rivers, and our climate. The PUC failed to respect the robust record built through the process, and approved Line 3 over the loud and explicit objections of your agencies, multiple intervening tribes, the Youth Climate Intervenors, environmental and indigenous rights groups, and 94% of the public comments.

We appreciate how your Department of Commerce has shown up so far, and we’re going to need you and all your agencies to fight harder than ever to stop this pipeline. Please stand with the young people and tribal nations who have fought this project every step of the way, and do everything in your power to ensure Line 3 is never built.
