In shocking news, the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Graduate School of Business formed a partnership with Indian mining conglomerate Adani late last year.
This is the same company that wants to build Australia’s biggest coal mine, dredge in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and ship thousands of tonnes of dirty coal to India.
Adani also happens to be the same company that faces charges of bribery, theft and corruption in its home state. As if this wasn’t enough, the mining giant has been charged with illegal construction, destruction of protected mangrove areas and failing to comply with environmental regulations.
This is not the kind of company that can be trusted with one of Australia’s most precious places.
Adani's plans will turn our iconic Great Barrier Reef into a coal superhighway and put the lives of millions of people at risk through locking India into a future powered by dirty, emissions intensive coal at a time when the world needs to phase out fossil fuels as quickly as possible.
QUT claims to be a university preparing its students for the "real world". In the real world, we are on track to hit climate chaos within this century if we don't reject business plans like Adani's in the Great Barrier Reef.
Write to the Executive Director of the QUT Graduate School of Business Bob O’Connor today and call on him to ensure a safe and just "real world" for QUT students by severing the School’s ties with Adani today.
